It's Martin Luther King day today !
Wanted to share, that my Year 2017 resolutions includes 'Getting organized'. Used to be 'Losing weight' for me, when I was had about 40 lbs to lose, and not much stamina ! 😒
But anyway, those days are long gone..
It's a Chirpy morning in January of 2017 .... and I'm right here, in a mood to finish up my cleaning and organizing... Aiming high, to touch the sky ;) Am always too ambitious, and fall soaring down each time, and end up getting all stressed out and beat up anytime I take up an organization endeavor...
It's just not completely fully me... rather, I've not embraced that side of me yet ;)
So, here's something to think about.. this never used to happen when it came to 'Nutrition', and 'Exercise', and maintain this 'very clean', and to some people 'Extreme' image when it comes to being 'Fit' and 'Healthy' ?? Never missing a chance to get that extra push-up in, or try that latest trend in green smoothies, lentil pasta, or cauliflower sauce ;) ?
Very easy to forget those laborious days, that having long gone, have born consistent fruits, and have just become an inseparable part of me and my personality.. I have to think where I started !
I've lost about 45 lbs and kept them off for past 15 years now.. having made successful 'lifestyle' changes by conquering my bad habits one at a time, and never stopping...
The results of this hard-work, and act of maintaining this lifestyle, continues to give me a 'sustained' happiness.. which the human brain is programmed to love and want more of !
Weight loss is a lifestyle change that nurtures your body and gives it the what it needs, for proper function of it's physical, mental and emotional self.
It's only sustainable if it serves you well overall. Each time we discover something not working for us, the lifestyle needs a slight tweak!
But you and your unique self are the ones that will be in continuous feedback mode, to shape this transformational and rewarding process !!!
Remember, God made each one of us a MASTERPIECE ! And then broke the mold!
For example, 'Staying organized' is a skill I lack sorely....
I think that I will apply the same steps I did for training my mind and body for weight loss, into this organization endeavor, provided I have serious motivation for this !
It's all about the sustained feeling of 'Happiness' we CAN experience 'AFTER THE HARD-WORK'!!
And least about the limited dopamine response that we get out of a 'feel good movie', or a 'Junkie meal', that we might indulge in, keyword: 'IN ORDER TO'
Change is difficult. I agree!
Martin Luther King Jr. said:
"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy."
But I also agree with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to the CORE, that Challenges bring out our True Grit, and Value Systems....
So, next time you're falling off the band wagon from your New Year Resolutions to lose weight... Think again...
1. How high is your priority to achieve this goal ?
2. What is the REAL REASON you want to achieve this goal ?
3. If you still want to achieve this PRETTY BAD, then :
BREAK IT Down, and BE UNSTOPPABLE !
